| This is why I make fun of my cat... |
Sorry guys! I’ve been busy with a bunch of
things lately I forgot to post! Last Thursday after conferences there was a
party at a teacher’s house out in Amwaj. It takes about 20 minutes to get there
from our apartment building but we spent a few hours there. Donna and her
husband invited some of us to their house for a couple hours for food, drinks,
conversation and dog lovin’. We got to explore their house, eat delicious New
York style pizza and appetizers, play Cards Against Humanity and meet their dog
and one of their friends. We stayed for a couple hours but it was fun to
hangout with people outside of school and outside of the apartments. It ended
up being a pretty relaxing and fun night. The rest of the weekend was spent
laying around and watching Netflix because we all need those days.

This last Thursday, two days ago, there was a
field trip all day for the seniors and I was asked to go earlier in the week.
At first I wasn’t expected to go but then there were a few changes in the
schedule and such so I was asked to supervise the trip. First we went to
American Alley to eat breakfast anywhere we wanted in 1.5 hours. Then we went
to Khalifa Park to take pictures before going to a carnival at a Police Academy
in Bahrain. Although the pictures only took an hour and we only stayed at the
carnival for about an hour (it was pretty much done when we got there), it was
still cool to get away from school and see my kids outside of class. I didn’t
quite think it was a worthwhile field trip but the seniors needed it and I’m
pretty sure I did.
Later on, there was a small group of teachers
going to Sherlock’s for dinner so Kate and I decided to join. Sherlock’s is a
restaurant that has a slight British pub feel to it and décor is centered on
the detective Sherlock Holmes. We were there for a little over an hour before
we came back to the apartments and played Clue with the same group of friends.
After one game, however, we were all tired and ready for bed. We had decided,
though, that on Friday we would go to the mall to see Deadpool in the movie
theatre. It was not quite what I expected but we had all heard from another
group of teachers that went to it Thursday that it was a very good and funny
movie. Like I said, not quite what I expected, but it was good to get out and
watch it.
Today my roommate and I went to the
BSPCA-basically an animal shelter-and walked dogs and pet a bunch of cats. We
got there and walked two dogs each around the area for like 20 minutes each
before going in the cat house and letting cats out of their cages and roaming
the walkways for a little bit. I didn’t know much about the dogs because we
weren’t allowed by their cages since most are either not trained or they are a
desert dog, meaning they ran around the island for the first part of their life
and that wild part of them is still there. The cats were easier because on each
cage it gives the name of the cat, age, and a short description of their
personality and medical info. There were so many dogs I was surprised how few
cats there were. The oldest cat was only 3.5 years old and the youngest was 4
months. They also had donkeys, turtles, chickens, doves and ducks there. It’s a
cute little set-up there, I just feel bad for the animals. The cats seemed like
they don’t get much attention and the dogs didn’t want to come back from their
walk.
I don’t have much else for you guys. There’s
really only the London trip which is still questionable-it’s supposed to happen
next week so I’m just assuming it’s not happening. Also Kate and I are still in
the process of putting together our final plans for Italy so I can’t give you
much detail on that yet either. Well, I’ll talk to you guys later!
